Extensions FAQ’s | Do They Damage your Hair?

Posted on 02 January 2012 by Jennifer Pompa

Most people get hair extensions because they want MORE hair, not LESS. If your contemplating getting hair extensions one of your biggest fears is that they might damage your hair. I’m sure you’ve seen or read some form of horror story linked to hair extensions.

Hair extensions are a cosmetic service, and yes things can go wrong. Think about other cosmetic services: Breast implants, nose jobs, lipo, acrylic nails, injectables…….haven’t you heard at least one story of these procedures going horribly wrong?

Like most things in the world of beauty you get what you pay for and you should absolutely do your research to make sure your going to a licensed expert. In this short video I share a few of my thoughts on making sure your hair extension experience is not a damaging one.

Betsy Johnson | NYFW | Creating the Hair

Posted on 02 January 2012 by Jennifer Pompa

Easihair recently gave me the opportunity to re-create looks from Betsy Johnson’s Spring 2012, and I had a blast doing it!

Easihair maker of Easilenghts tape in hair extensions has a huge presence at New York Fashion Week. I’m sure it’s no secret that most of the models need hair extensions in order to create the beautiful looks the stylists had in mind, stylist love using easilengths because of how easy they are to apply and how great they are to incorporate into a style.  Peter Gray is a hair artist extrodinare and this fun and feminine look he dreamt up for Miss Betsy is one of my favorites!

Check out the video for an inside look on how the style is created:

New York Fashion Week | Recreating The Looks

Posted on 02 January 2012 by Jennifer Pompa

I recently had the honor of working on a video production with Easihair, recreating looks from New York FashionWeek- Spring 2012.
Easihair is a major hair player at New York Fashion Week. Some of the top stylists in the world are using easilenghts tape in hair extensions on their models in order to create hair that is worthy of such a big stage. The world is watching at New York Fashion week and the hair needs to be absolutely perfect.

Like most things in a fashion show, the hair is over the top! Most clothing styles on the runway are meant to be an exaggerated version of what one would wear on the street, and the hair is no exception.

In this video I recreated a look that was originally created by the great Peter Gray! Peter created this full-of-volume awesomeness for the Badgley Mischka Spring 2012 collection.Take a peek and learn how to do it yourself!

Tape in Extensions | How to care for Easilengths

Posted on 02 January 2012 by Jennifer Pompa

Easilengths Tape Hair Extensions are one of my favorite type of permanent human hair extensions!

A few of my  favorite features of the extensions are :
- They’re lightweight and virtually undetectable
- They’re easy to put in, and easy to take out. This method is one of the quickest I’ve ever seen.
- Easilengths are non-damaging. If taken care of properly Easilenghts are a great way to grow your hair out, or add extra volume and length to your own hair.

Most damage I see from hair extensions is from 1. Leaving them in too long or 2. Not taking care of them properly.

If your wearing Easilengths here’s a few basic things you should know about caring for them, so you can protect your investment and enjoy your beautiful hair!

Hair Extensions Keep You Warm | Winter Hair

Posted on 06 December 2011 by Jennifer Pompa

Looking for some extra warmth ? Add some beauty and some heat!

Science has proven that we lose more heat through our head than from any other part of our body. The main objective of the body is to keep the brain warm, so much so that it will sacrifice any other part before it lets the brain get too cold.

Your head may not ever feel cold because the body sends it all its heat , this is also the reason your hands and feet feel cold the most often, they are being sacrificed for the sake of your brain.

We all know that winter hats help keep your head nice and toasty, so naturally, adding more hair to your head will help you retain that much needed heat around your dome! Fashionistas know Hair Extensions are much prettier than your standard winter hat. So add some hair, look even better, and keep extra warm this winter!

Keune Leave In Extension Spray | Product Review

Posted on 05 December 2011 by Jennifer Pompa

One of the most important parts of being an extension wearer is learning how to care for them. Because extensions aren’t attached to our scalp they don’t get the benefit of moisture from our natural oils, therefore they can become dry and dull looking. Using a leave in spray like this one from Keune is a great way to protect your investment.

Why I like it
I’ve been using this leave in spray for a couple of months now and I can tell a HUGE difference in the way my extensions look and feel. This product truly hydrates and puts all the “good stuff” back into the hair. One of my favorite things is getting new extensions and enjoying that new hair feeling, the hair is shiny, soft, and so healthy looking. This spray helps my hair always have that new hair feeling.

How I Use It
I love using this spray right out of the shower before I blowdry my hair. On wet hair I use quite a bit ( 4-6 pumps) and I concentrate on mid-shaft to hair ends. With most permanent extensions you’ll want to keep this spray off the attachment, if your using on clip in extensions you don’t have to be as careful. After I’ve coated the hair with the spray, I use the heat from my blowdryer to really push the conditioner into the cuticle for max effect.

Negatives
Only honest thing I can think of to dislike about this product is I wish it came in a bigger size. Most women with hair extensions are wearing them to add at least a little length like myself, I tend to go through this bottle pretty quickly and I would love a bigger size.

Tape In Extensions | Before and After

Posted on 10 October 2011 by Jennifer Pompa

Client Profile:

A client of mine came to me with hair that had been over processed resulting in breakage throughout her entire head. Most noticeably it caused so much breakage it had severely shortened the length of her hair. She wanted extensions to take her hair back to the hair she was used to having: Full, shiny, and healthy looking. Most importantly she wanted it to look natural.

As a stylist our job is to determine what type of extensions ( if any) would be best for your hair type and texture, we also have to have a keen eye for color matching. In some circumstances we have to say no, contrary to popular belief extensions are not for everybody. Luckily in this case Easilenghts were the perfect fit.

A little about Easilenghts tape in Extensions:

  • Easilenghts come in 16″ and 20″ length
  • Easilenghts are made with 100% Remy Human hair, the best hair available
  • They are avaialble in a very wide range of colors and can mixed and matched for the ultimate custom color blend
  • Easilenghts take less than two hours to apply ( on average and hour and a half)
  • Easilenghts are re-usable, they have to be moved up every 4-6 weeks as your hair naturally grows and the packets grow with it
  • They are non damaging and EXTREMELY lightweight. So lightweight that they are very ideal for fine or thin hair.
  • Price range : $250-$750

The result was a happy client and beautiful hair, my favorite things!
