Hair Extensions Expire?
Well for the most part yes they do. Whether your wearing temporary or permanent extensions it’s important to accept the fact that one day you will have to part ways. Extensions of all kind have a definite life span.
As with most things, high quality hair will last longer than poor quality hair. With proper maintenance and care you can extend the life of your human hair extensions, but sooner or later they will be beyond repair.
If your wearing permanent extensions, its very very important to pay attention to the manufacturers recommendations.
Permanent extensions can last anywhere between 4-12 weeks. When a manufacturer recommends that your hair be removed at a certain time PAY ATTENTION. You may think that the hair still looks good, or still feels good, but you may be doing damage by leaving them in. What you may not see is how the attachment is holding up, or how your new growth is reacting to the extensions.
Leaving your hair extensions in beyond the recommended time frame can cause intense tangling or matting that is irreversible. Allowing your hair to “dread” around the attachment can also cause breakage. We all remember when Britney Spears shaved her head to remove her extensions, lets all take a lesson from her now.
Human Hair clip in extensions can have a longer lifespan than permanet, mainly because they are not typically worn everyday.
Using the right products on your clip in hair extensions will help them last for as long as possible. Shampoo and conditioner meant for damaged or color treated hair is typically best for clip in extensions. Clip in Extensions are also not attached to your scalp so they don’t have the benefit of your own natural oils and conditioners so a leave in treatment is a must for clip in hair extensions. It’s also important to remember that continuous styling with heat tools will cause the hair to break down prematurely just like our own.
As a main rule of thumb: If the hair is dry, brittle, and not responding to deep conditioning treatments its time to toss.

I totally love this post. I wish women could understand that you can NOT wear your extensions for 6 months and expect them to look good!!
